Length

Probably the most common mistake people make when preparing their CV is to bloat it out with unecessary information. The CV Centre recommends keeping your CV brief and cutting out the unnecessary trivia. A maximum of two pages is generally acceptable (or three if you have extensive experience), and if have little or no experience tehn a single page makes much more sense. Try to use simple techniques such as bullet pointing, etc. to help make your CV easier to read.

Detail

Eliminate all repitition and unnecessary detail. Look at each section of detail you are providing and analyse whether it helps your application?' If not then delete it!

History

Concentrate on your most recent history and simply summarise any older experience - unless it is of particular relevance to the post on offer. Employers are most interested in your latest experience. Your summaries should include keywords indicating experience as this will assist immensely if you submit your CV to a variety of online 'searchable' Job sites.

Interests & Activities

Another common error is to expand this kind of information too much. Modern CV trends are moving toward the American style of résumé, which dispenses with this kind of detail so try to keep it to a minimum.
